Terms of Service v1.1.0 · Closed Beta Last updated: June 25, 2026

The terms you agree to.

By using Stack, you agree to the things below. The most important ones: Stack is a software tool, not a financial advisor; you're responsible for the financial decisions you make using Stack; our subscription terms are exactly what we say on the pricing page; you can cancel anytime; refunds are one-click within 7 days.

Where this document is in its lifecycle
This is the v1.0 · Closed Beta version of Stack's Terms of Service. Material changes will be communicated to all users by email at least 14 days before they take effect. The next planned revision is at public launch in Q3 2026, when Stack opens to general signups.

The short version

Stack is a software tool that helps you track spending and optimize credit card rewards. We don't move your money, lend you money, or hold your funds. The recommendations Stack makes are informational; the financial decisions you make are yours.

Founding Members ($89.99/yr) keep that price for life. Lifetime users ($249 one-time) keep access for life. Both are limited tiers that you claim by paying at signup. Pro Annual ($99.99/yr) includes a 30-day free trial at the current public rate. You can refund any payment within 7 days with one click, and you can cancel anytime.

If anything below is unclear, email legal@usestack.app.

Subscription terms

Free tier

Stack offers a free tier with no time limit and no credit card required. You can use Stack's core tracking features indefinitely at no cost.

How paid plans start

There are two ways to start a paid plan, and you choose at the payment step during onboarding or later in Settings.

Claim a limited slot, pay now. Founding Member and Lifetime are limited tiers, so you claim your slot by paying at signup. These tiers do not include a trial period, because your slot is held the moment your payment goes through. Your 7-day refund window, described below, is your risk-free window. Founding Member is billed at $89.99 with a 13-month first term, one bonus month, and then renews annually at $89.99. Lifetime is a single $249 payment with no recurring charge and access that starts immediately.

Start a 30-day free trial. Pro Annual ($99.99/year) starts with a 30-day free trial with every feature included. We require a payment method at signup so your access continues without a gap when the trial ends, at which point your card is charged for Pro Annual unless you cancel, switch to Pro Monthly, or switch to Free beforehand. We send reminder emails at day 23 and day 28 of your trial, so you have clear notice before any charge. The trial path does not hold a Founding Member or Lifetime slot and does not lock your price, so Pro Annual is billed at the public rate in effect at conversion, which can change over time.

Pro Monthly is billed immediately at signup at $9.99/month with no trial period, and continues until you cancel. You can switch tiers or cancel anytime from Settings.

Pro tier definitions

Founding Member
$89.99/year
Locked-for-life pricing available to the first 1,000 paid signups. You claim a Founding Member slot by paying at signup. Your first term runs 13 months, one bonus month included, and then your subscription renews annually at $89.99. After the first 1,000 paid signups are accepted, the tier closes permanently and new signups are subject to the public price.

Preserving your Founding Member rate. Founding Member pricing is preserved as long as your annual subscription auto-renews successfully. If a renewal payment fails, you have a 7-day grace period to update your payment method without losing your Founding Member rate. Stack maintains full Pro access during this grace period. After 7 days of failed payment, the subscription is considered cancelled and the Founding Member rate is forfeited; re-subscribing afterward will be at the then-current public price.

Voluntary downgrade to Pro Monthly. If you choose to switch from Pro Annual to Pro Monthly, your Founding Member rate is preserved indefinitely. You may return to Pro Annual at $89.99/year at any time as long as your subscription remains continuously paid (annual or monthly). There is no time limit on this return.

Voluntary downgrade to Free. If you choose to switch from a paid plan to the Free tier, your Founding Member rate is preserved for 90 days from the date of downgrade. Returning to any paid plan (Pro Annual or Pro Monthly) within this 90-day window preserves your Founding Member rate. After 90 days on Free, the Founding Member rate is forfeited; re-upgrading to Pro Annual will be at the then-current public price.

Pro Monthly payment failure while at Founding Member rate. If you have switched from Pro Annual to Pro Monthly as a Founding Member and a $9.99/month renewal payment fails, you have a 7-day grace period to update your payment method (identical to the Pro Annual payment failure policy). If the payment recovers within 7 days, your Founding Member entitlement is preserved. If the payment does not recover within 7 days, your subscription transitions to the Free tier and your Founding Member entitlement enters the 90-day Free forgiveness window described above. Returning to any paid plan within those 90 days preserves your $89.99/year Founding Member rate. After 90 days without returning to a paid plan, the Founding Member rate is forfeited.
Lifetime
$249 one-time
Single-payment lifetime access available to the first 250 paid signups. You claim a Lifetime slot by paying at signup, and access starts immediately with no recurring charge. After the first 250 are claimed, the tier closes permanently. Lifetime users retain Pro access indefinitely, including future Pro features. Price guaranteed forever, not dependent on a sale we might end tomorrow.
Pro Annual (public)
$99.99/year
The standard annual subscription, available to everyone and offered with a 30-day free trial. Pro Annual does not hold a Founding Member or Lifetime slot, and it is billed at the public rate in effect at the time, which can change over time. Renews annually unless cancelled.
Pro Monthly
$9.99/month
Standard monthly subscription at $9.99/month. Pro Monthly does not include a 30-day trial period; billing begins on the date of signup. Cancel anytime. Renews monthly unless cancelled. Existing Founding Members who switch to Pro Monthly retain their Founding Member rate indefinitely (see Founding Member tier definition above).

Refunds

You may request a full refund within 7 days of any payment by tapping the one-click refund button in Settings. The refund is automated and tier downgrade is immediate. No support ticket required. No retention prompts. No questions. This 7-day window applies to every plan.

Limited-tier slots. Founding Member and Lifetime are limited tiers that you claim by paying at signup. If you refund a Founding Member or Lifetime payment within the 7-day window, your slot is returned to the available pool. After 7 days, your slot is considered claimed.

After 7 days, refunds are handled case-by-case. Email hello@usestack.app with your situation. The commitment is to treat the request fairly, not to guarantee a specific outcome.

The Affiliate Pledge

Incorporated by reference
Stack maintains a public Affiliate Pledge at usestack.app/pledge describing how Stack makes money from card recommendations and how it does not. The Affiliate Pledge is incorporated into these Terms by reference. If Stack fails to honor the pledge, the escalation path described on that page is real and binding.

In short: Stack's recommendation engine is not influenced by affiliate payouts. When the Explore Cards feature ships and a user chooses to apply for a card through Stack, an issuing bank may pay Stack a referral. That is the only point at which affiliate revenue enters Stack's books. Recommendations never see it.

Your data

Your data belongs to you. See our Privacy Policy for the full details on what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with (a small list of service providers, no advertisers ever), and the rights you have over your data.

You can request a copy of all your data, delete your account, or correct any inaccuracy by emailing privacy@usestack.app.

Third-party services

Stack uses third-party services to deliver the product, including Plaid (bank connections, if you choose to link an account), OpenAI (powers Max), Stripe (payment processing), Supabase (database hosting), Resend (email delivery), Cloudflare (website hosting and routing), and Plausible (privacy-respecting analytics). Each has their own terms of service.

By using Stack, you also agree to the relevant terms of these third-party services as they apply to your use of their features within Stack.

Service availability

Stack may be unavailable during maintenance, due to technical issues, or due to third-party service outages. We aim for high availability but don't guarantee uninterrupted service. We're a small team and we'll be honest with you when things go wrong rather than pretending they didn't.

Stack's total liability to you for any claim related to Stack is limited to the amount you've paid Stack in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Termination

You can delete your account anytime in Settings. Account deletion permanently removes your data on the timeline described in our Privacy Policy.

We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. In most cases we'll contact you first if it's something correctable.

Changes to these terms

If we update these Terms, we'll notify all users by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect, and post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and version number. Continued use of Stack after the change indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.
